As winner of the 2007 BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition, Chinese bass-baritone Shenyang was brought swiftly to international attention. Committed to promoting the vocal treasures of his native heritage, Shenyang will the share stage with pianist Zhang Yiming and actor Wong Pak Hou to present a collection of songs set to Tang poetry and written by renowned Chinese and Western composers.
 
Tang poetry, one of the Chinese cultural treasures, was introduced into the West in the 19th century and translated into different languages. One of the most significant publications is Die chinesische Flöte (The Chinese Flute) by German poet Hans Bethge, which inspired Mahler, Webern, Penderecki and many other composers. Some of the lyrical text in this publication will be featured at this concert. Come promenade along the melodious road of Tang poetry.
